introducing my rating chart and how it works (and the importance of chocolate milk in my reviewing process)

Welcome to my first blog post! I thought it might be useful to show you what my rating scale is, what its based on, how its measured, and what things a restaurant might have that would give them bonus points.

My rating scale is based off of information collected from my survey I sent out to some of Victoria's teenagers that asked them what aspects of a restaurant and eating experience are most important, what their typical eating out budget is, and any other things that make their eating experience 1000 times better.

“abundance of chocolate milk, free wifi, and free bread are all I need.” - Lily Brice

From my survey I learned that the typical Victoria teen budget is $10-$30, and what restaurant aspects are more important than others (ranked from most - least important)

  1. food quality

  2. good service (being treated respectfully + feeling accepted)

  3. wait time (how long it takes to get a table, food, the bill, etc.)

  4. food presentation (looks aesthetic + not sloppy)

  5. flexibility (ability to make substitutions/dietary restrictions)

  6. atmosphere (good lighting, suitable music at the right volume, fitting decor, effective restaurant layout)

  7. location (close to downtown Victoria)

bonus points!

  • locally sourced ingredients!

  • wheelchair accessibility!

  • reasonable hours!

  • chocolate milk!

  • free wifi!

  • free bread/snacks!

my rating chart :

The highest score a restaurant or establishment could get is 46 (each aspect is out of 5, and each bonus point is worth 1), so each restaurant's final score is __/46.

That's pretty much it! I tried to make it as simple as possible so that no extra math or thinking was needed and it was pretty self explanatory. Time to go eat!
