Frankie's Modern Diner

For Family Day, me and my mom went out for brunch at Frankie's Modern Diner downtown.

Atmosphere + Service:

Walking into the diner was awesome. The cool red and black theme with modern lights and a very welcoming message on the stairs made me super excited to be there. It was pretty busy, but the space is huge, with booths, tables, a bar, and bright blue sofa chairs all available for seating (right by huge windows looking at some small shops downtown). We were seated quickly and our waiter (I think his name was Josh? I think?) got us our drinks and we ordered efficiently.

Flexibility:

On the menu, every meal (through breakfast - dessert) had a symbol detailing whether it was:

• gluten free

• dairy free

• vegetarian

• vegan

and there were tons of items on the menu that could be adapted to different dietary needs.

Affordability:

me and my mom decided on getting:

• churro style french toast with whipped cream (sorry lactose intolerance), strawberries, and strawberry compote - $12

• Frankie's oatmeal with almond milk and a buttermilk pancake - $9.50

Wait Time, Food Presentation, + Food Quality:

Our food came within 10 minutes, which was a lot faster than I expected due to the number of people in the diner. The presentation of my french toast was aesthetic and also productive (look at that whipped cream swirl!) It tasted really good, and it was different than any french toast I have had before because it was slightly deep fried and with lots of cinnamon sugar. The compote was homemade, so it was soooo delicious, and the combination of everything was perfect.

The oatmeal was also very aesthetic, with a bunch of granola, almonds, and berries on top and a small container of steamed almond milk on the side, as well as a beautiful fluffy buttermilk pancake! It tasted delicious and was the perfect texture, the perfect comfort food. And the pancake was soo fluffy and delicious I could have eaten 10 of them!
